#68 Snow Bunting

Snow Buntings nest in rock cavities of the high Arctic and then turn nomadic, spending winters on beaches, lakeshores, and fields across Canada and the United States. Their rusty coloration in winter blends in with those landscapes. And in the spring, when they return to the cold and treeless tundra, the males will rub their heads and bellies on the snow to wear down the brown feather tips, revealing the white below, which matches the snow.
